Day 9: Minneapolis

Tuesday morning we picked up Uncle K and his friend A and headed to the Museum of Science.  We had planned to go just for an hour or so, but we do not move quickly through museums.  The boys collided warm and cold fronts, played with nanoparticles, made waves, and saw the dinosaurs, while we chatted with Uncle K and A.  The triceratops skeleton is the largest discovered and, according to the sign, there are only 4 complete triceratops skeletons (New York, DC, Minneapolis, and Milwaukee) and we've seen all but one.  Time for a trip to Milwaukee.

Lunch was at a favorite Mexican restaurant of Uncle K's and then we headed out to see the Minnehaha Falls.  On the way we saw Uncle K's new house.  Unfortunately he doesn't close for a few weeks, but it looks like a good place and we look forward to seeing the inside on our next visit.

After admiring the falls, the boys were on the look-out for rocks to climb and we hiked quite a ways downstream.  Mr. 3 found a can of beer among the rocks and, when I told him it was yucky and to put it down, he promptly dumped it down the front of his pants and smelled like beer for the rest of the day.  He also took a big spill and told everyone the hurt on his arm was due to his surgery.

Uncle K took us to a great Thai restaurant for dinner and then to the Endless Bridge at the Guthrie Theater to watch the sun set over the Mississippi River.  It was a great visit and we would have loved to spend more time with Uncle K who graciously puts up with attacks from the brothers who love to wrestle and tell him stories one after another (or just over one another), but we were so happy he took the day off to spend with us and we loved meeting his good friend A and her son J.  Luckily we'll see him again soon in Osh Kosh.
