Day 4: Toronto to Sault Sainte Marie
Today we drove, really all day. An 8 hour drive with 4 kids involves stopping about every hour and a half. We stopped by Tim Horton's as our first stop. As Bostoners, we felt the need to check out the Canadian Dunkin Donuts and our review is pretty much it's the Canadian Dunkin Donuts. The boys approved of the "Timlets".
Once we got back into the US, we stopped at the Michigan Welcome Center. Michigan is very welcoming with signs and welcome centers at every entry point (we saw three in our travels). There was a field to run in and a very helpful woman with a room full of brochures. I felt bad telling her we were only passing through. We headed back to the car with much information and many maps and headed out again. The day passed with books, tablet time, math workbooks, stickers, audio books (so far we've listened to Encyclopedia Brown and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane - Desperaux is better), journals, and My Neighbor Totoro. After we crossed Mackinac Bridge, we stopped to let the boys climb on rocks with the sun setting in the background. We reached Sault Ste Marie an hour later and it took a bit to calm down our slap-happy crew from their late night and long day in the car.
