Day 4: A trip to the zoo

While in St. Louis, we couldn't miss a trip to the St. Louis Zoo.  It turns out that Mr. 1 was the perfect age for the zoo and was enthralled by the animals and actually named quite a few.  His absolute favorites were the elephants (which he calls "ellas" and makes a wonderful trumpeting sound that is like a noisy raspberry) and the tigers (called "igers").  In addition to the animals, Mr. 4 loved riding the train.  And a highlight for everyone was the stingray exhibit, especially Mr. 10 who didn't want to leave.  You could touch the stingrays as they swam past (as well as a few small sharks).  Even Mr. 1 felt a stingray and of course loved splashing in the water.

We parted from David in the parking lot as Grandpa took him to the airport to fly to San Francisco for work while the boys and I stayed on in St. Louis with Grandma and Grandpa and then headed up to Chicago for time with Nana and Papa.
