Unfortunately Mr. 3 did not realize that he needed to wake up on Mountain Time so he was awake at 5:15. I tried to get him to snuggle with me but after 20-30 minutes of squirming kid I decided to take him on a "let's find coffee" walk and let everyone else sleep. We found coffee, ate oatmeal, put our feet in the pool, wandered the conference center, and finally texted Nana and Papa to see if they wanted to join us for breakfast. They were awake so we grabbed take-out breakfast sandwiches and the rest of our family joined us for breakfast by the pool.
After breakfast, we knew we needed to get out of the hotel. Our California relatives are not known for being early risers and were an hour earlier in time so we headed out on our own. We had heard good things about the City Park and the Science Museum and our membership was reciprocal so it was a safe bet! After finding the right corner to pick up the bus (otherwise known as running after the bus as a family of 6 when you're on the wrong corner), it was just a short ride and we were dropped by the lake with a view of the city in the background.
We had lots of fun at the museum (space, animals, and dinosaurs - what's not to love) but were hoping to get back to the hotel for a short dip in the pool before the rehearsal dinner. It was almost 100 degrees and it turns out that there were lots of other people with the same idea (it was a bit like spring break at the pool) and the boys weren't interested in joining the 20-somethings with their drinks and music so we had a bit of quiet time in the room (yeah Kindles) and Mr. 3 and Mr. 6 even got a nap.
The kids had their own party during the rehearsal and we dropped them off in their suite for pizza and movies while we ate a delicious southern dinner and shared in the toasts and advice to the lovely couple. We were so happy to get to be there - such a wonderful reminder of the importance of family!
