Day 1 - Colorado adventure

Early in the morning, too early given how late we'd gone to bed, we woke our snuggling kids up and headed to the airport.  We were very thankful a good friend had offered to give us a ride to and from which saved loading everyone (and luggage) up into a cab so we picked him up on the way.  The big excitement this trip was Kindles for all of our readers.  We have had some difficulty with screens recently and thought this would be a great way to pack lots of reading material for our voracious readers (we took 25 books for Mr. 12 when we drove to Indy in April and he read all of them in a week).  Mr. 6 had been reading through the Norby series and we were excited to find a bunch of the books on Kindle Unlimited.  And the Family Library option works perfectly for us!
 Reason helping us pack

Settled in on the plane, the older 3 read the entire trip.  And Mr. 3 happily played with everything in his backpack and even the grown-ups got to read.  We definitely felt we had graduated to travelling with big kids!

We grabbed our luggage and took the airport tram to a bus downtown to another bus to get to our airport.  It saved renting a minivan during the weekend (not an insignificant expense) and always fun to try out local public transportation.  We dropped off the luggage and went in search of lunch for our crew.  It turns out the food trucks we'd been hoping to find are only there are Tuesday and Thursday so we settled for an urban walk and subs.  After a bit of downtime in our room, we met up with Aunt J and her kids to run around in the park and see the sculptures outside the Denver Art Museum.

We couldn't spend too long since there was a baseball game to go to with lots of family.  Padres vs. Rockies - Mr. 12 and Mr. 6 kept score while Mr. 3 worked the crowd.  A great way to start the wedding weekend (though we had to leave after the 7th inning - it was already close to midnight for our Boston brains)!
