Happy birthday Mr. 6!

Mr. 5 turned 6 on Earth Day and we had a special cousin celebration in Indianapolis to celebrate.  There was a lot of Pokemon which he is currently very excited about and we made volcanoes and oobleck at his request.  And of course a chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream and double fudge brownie ice cream.

Mr. 6 makes us smile with his antics but he's as sharp as they come.  He spent most of the trip out to Indy working on puzzles in his new brain games book - crossword puzzles, logic puzzles, word searches.  His one complaint about kindergarten is that he doesn't get to do real math and he tells me that he has to learn math so he can program games on the Wii when he gets bigger.  He's become quite the reader in the last few months and is reading his way through all the Magic Treehouse books.  We started The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe out loud because that's how all our boys have started the series - once you read the first one, you're hooked!

He was really excited about learning to swim this spring and decided he would rather take swimming lessons that soccer - until the week soccer started when he decided that he really did want to play soccer.  So he's a late addition (and we're going to miss the first 2 weeks) but an enthusiastic one.  He learned to skate this winter and tells me he's excited to play hockey in the fall - we'll see about that one.

He is definitely my best dressed kid with his own fashion sense - typically this involves superhero shirts and colorful soccers and his beat-up sneakers but he definitely has style!  He loves being one of the big brothers.  On Sunday we stopped to pick up a few things at Trader Joes and the checker offered Mr. 3 stickers which he happily took.  She then offered Mr. 10 and Mr. 12 stickers but they turned them down.  She turned to Mr. 6 who looked at his big brothers and then told her that he didn't want any either!

He is becoming quite the cello player and has enjoyed playing this year - once you convince him to actually sit down to practice.  Until then he's too busy with other things!

Mr. 6, we love your smile, your big eyes, your funny comments, your dance moves and your cleverness!  We're so glad to have a 6 year old in our family!
