Bermuda Day 2: Horseshoe Beach

We spent our first full day in Bermuda at Horseshoe Beach, arguably one of the most famous beaches here.  Mr. 10 really only came to snorkel, so we thought this would work out well.

We've rented a 2 bedroom condo in Devonshire Parish.  It's actually perfect for us but does require walking down a steep hill to get to the bus stop and back up when we get back (only the back up is a problem).  We managed to catch the first bus right away but spent a good bit of time waiting for the second.

Once we finally arrived, we hit the water.  Except for Mr. 1.  He fell asleep on the way down the hill and slept for the first hour we were there.

It was a bit crowded off and on during the day, but the fish were amazing.  There were two huge parrotfish and a blue wrasse that would come right up to the surface to nibble breadcrumbs.  Snorkeling out through the cove entrance, we found sargeant majors, angelfish, and many others we have yet to identify.  If we make this trip again, an underwater camera may be in order.

After a quick snack-bar lunch, we traipsed out of the cove to the main beach so David could teach the boys how to body surf in the waves.  But everyone was excited to return and snorkel more in the cove, and Micah had found a great stick he wanted to poke things with.  Unfortunately, our second cove visit was more limited.  A Portuguese Man-o'-war jellyfish had wandered into the cove, and it seemed wise to keep our kids at a good distance.  So we began the trip home, to nurse our sunburns and start planning the next day.
